Empirix to Optimize Radio Access Networks with Detailed Analytics and Troubleshooting Capabilities

Empirix, Inc., the recognized leader in end-to-end network performance visibility with the unique ability to analyze customer behaviors by application in real time, announced the launch of RAN Vision today. This intuitive, real-time, network-wide solution will enable prompt detection and accurate diagnosis of problems in both 3G and 4G radio environments as well provide insights into the end-to-end customer experience.

Mobile Network Operators

Mobile operators can now leverage a single platform for monitoring, troubleshooting and analyzing information from the core to the RAN. These new capabilities will give these operators the unprecedented ability to manage their networks based on their customers’ experience and network performance.

The RAN Vision solution dramatically reduces the need for drive testing while substantially improving the visibility of the performance of the radio access network by providing insight into all of the subscribers in real time. RAN Vision reduces radio engineers’ workload by decreasing the time required to solve problems from hours to minutes with prompt and accurate identification of the root causes of call drops, call setup failures, handover failures and poor throughput. With RAN Vision, every subscriber call or session in 3G and 4G radio environments can be rapidly analyzed to quickly identify issues.

End-to-end QoE

“As the leader in providing network visibility for end-to-end Quality of Experience, Empirix’s goal is to ensure that our solutions address the widest possible range of network technologies in order to provide valuable insights and accelerate the time to make informed business decisions,” said John D’Anna, CEO of Empirix. “With the launch of RAN Vision, Empirix clients can now leverage a single analytics platform to collect, correlate and present information from the core to the radio access network.”

“The RAN Vision solution delivers a comprehensive set of analytics and troubleshooting features that enables mobile operators to focus on improving network quality and subscriber experience,” said Anil Rao, senior analyst at Analysys Mason.

Empirix Enters into OSSii Agreement with Ericsson

Empirix will offer unprecedented end-to-end coverage of the radio access network (RAN) with its powerful RAN Vision solution. This OSSii agreement augments Empirix’s set of available data sources; extends monitoring coverage to additional network elements that can be monitored (such as eNodesBs, PCRFs, and HSS); and provides a robust, holistic view to customers.

Gaining an Insight into VoLTE Customer Experience via Analytics
VoLTE Customer Experience

Service providers are demanding more from their customer experience and service assurance solutions because they have a keen awareness of the richness and value of the information that flows across their networks. Reliably and accurately extracted, this information can be used to help manage not just the network, but also the services offered and the devices deployed. Insights can be also be gained around the performance of providers’ vendors and—most significantly—the experiences and value of their customers.

DAS – The Original Precursor to C-RAN

DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) can be considered the first iteration on the evolutionary road to C-RAN (Centralized RAN). As the name suggests, the antennas are distributed over a wide area, typically different stories of a building. A DAS solution provides improved carrier coverage, something that is becoming increasingly harder to achieve indoor due to ever-improving building and insulation standards. Additionally, as there are more antennas, they can broadcast at lower power.
